Cheap Trick/Foo Fighters @ Bayfest 2003
Reviewer: Elmore
This night proved how alike two generations are. Both bands rocked hard and loud. The only thing that kept more younger people from leaving the park when Cheap Trick got into their set was the familiarity of the songs. As this is more the fault of local radio due to their insistence on repetitive playing of the same handful of new groups I can't blame the kids. For the rest of us it was a pretty good night. The Foo Fighters came on to show us just how much of a handle they have on the pulse of what's popular in music right now. Both hits and non hits were interesting and entertaining. The vocals were incredible, the same affect as Daltry. Good time.
Cheap Trick of coarse rocked through their set with the confidence
that a band with their experience is more than able to do. Although I
was glad to hear songs that were less popular there were a few that I
was looking forward to that they didn't play.
Only so much time in the night I guess.
The only problem I had with the night was the quality of the sound. It
seemed to me that the system was perfectly maxed for Foo
Fighters and than overdriven to the
point of distortion for Cheap Trick. For those people unfamiliar with
the music this must have seemed disappointing. Other than that this
night rocked and so did Sarnia.
