Endeavor, Six-Foot Daisy’s and Flicker

Reviewer: Kodiac

Even though winter is around the corner, Kodiac is not getting ready for hibernation. This last Sunday, October 13/2002, was an event at the “Station” where Endeavor, Six Foot Daisies and Flicker played. The event was $5 in advance and $8 at the door, and Beer was $3.65. Ok enough of the basics of the event now down to what you the people want to know, which is how were the bands.

Endeavor from Toronto was the first band that was suppose to take the stage at 9 but instead they took the stage at 10 pm, Kodiac doesn’t know if that was their decision or if it was the way it worked out, but either way it wasn’t very professional. Talking to some of the Endeavor’s members before they went on and they told Kodiac a sound check was not performed and that they didn’t know how they were going to sound. Well guys you didn’t need a sound check, what you do need though is better songs, as well as more practice because the songs weren’t “tight”. The Drummer was awesome but unfortunately the rest of the band didn’t seem to be playing with the same enthusiasm, which is very unfortunate. They were loud how ever and some of the songs were heavy, but there is room for improvement. Sorry guys Kodiac calls them like he sees them and it’s not his style to pull any punches.

Six Foot Daisy’s were awesome; the band had a No Doubt/Biff Naked sound, which was awesome. The singer was a 4-foot firecracker that didn’t stop jumping around and it seemed she was enthused about just being at the show. Kodiac really liked this band and not just because the singer was a hottie either but because the whole band were playing with great enthusiasm and energy. Many people agreed that they should have been given more time on stage but since the first band was late going up they probably had to shorten things up a bit to allow the Flicker to go on. The level of professionalism was very high and enough good things cannot be said about this band, if given the chance to see them again Kodiac will.

So this brings us to the last band that took the stage, which was Flicker. Its good that the band decided to get rid of the shinny shirts, but Kodiac has to ask, what the hell is up with the guy and the tie? Flicker rocked the house and put on a great show, and the 3-man drum solo was really cool. Flicker kept the party going right to the end of the night and Kodiac almost got up to dance but no one likes to see a dancing bear. When the band released the album “Every Body’s Every Where” you could tell they were new but now they sound more like seasoned professionals. Remembering even further back when Kodiac was a cub, the singer for Flicker use to sing at parties and now to hear him, it’s hard to believe it’s the same guy, you are doing great Jamie keep it up.

The facility was great and it wasn’t long to get a beer, in fact the only problem with the bar was the one bartender at the south bar who closed early. It was a great event nonetheless and Kodiac can’t wait for the next time to go there to watch a band. Its good that we the “Sarnia people” finally have rock and roll bar again, it’s been too long having just dance clubs in this city. Next summer when the New Old Campbell Street Station reopens the patio it will only improve upon the facility.
